Weaving with Lakun Mara

Immerse yourself in the rich cultural practice of First Nations weaving in this inspiring, hands-on workshop with award-winning Ngarrindjeri, Ngadjuri, Narungga and Wirangu artist Sonya Rankine of Lakun Mara.

This in-person experience invites you to slow down, connect with culture and learn traditional Ngarrindjeri and Ngadjuri weaving techniques. Guided by Sonya, you’ll explore natural fibres, traditional methods and storytelling through making, while gaining insight into weaving as a practice of care, connection and cultural continuity.

Whether you are new to weaving or looking to refine your skills, this workshop offers a welcoming, relaxed environment for all experience levels. Sonya’s generous, grounded teaching style makes this a rare opportunity to learn directly from a respected First Nations artist and cultural practitioner.

Come together, learn with your hands and be part of a shared cultural experience that honours tradition while encouraging creative expression.
